Day 01 : Delhi to Jaipur
Depart Delhi for the pink city of Jaipur, which is Rajasthan at its most
irresistble and flamboyant. Transfer to your hotel.
Day 02 : Jaipur
Journey out of Jaipur for a tour of Rajasthan stronghold of Amber fort
where we ascend to the battlements by elephant. Returning to the city we tour
the sprawling city palace and the Hawaal whose intricate fretwork windows
were designed to let in the cool air, whilst shielding the ladies of court
from prying eyes.
Day 03 : Jaipur to Agra
Drive to Agra stopping enroute at the Ghostly city of Fatehpur Sikri,
deserted for almost four centuries yet perfectly preserved. Arrive in Agra
and transfer to your hotel.
Day 04 : Agra
After breakfast we visit the Taj Mahal and fort , the creation of Akbar.
The afternoon is free.
Day 05 : Agra to Khajuraho
Journey by train to Jhansi then drive to the delightful town of Orcha
to tour the ruins of medieval palaces, temples and weed-chocked cenotaphs.
Continue on to Khajuraho.
Day 06 : Khajuraho to Varanasi
Morning tour of the splendid temples of Khajuraho - among the finest in
India - whose wonderful friezes are famous for their numerous exotic scenes.
Late afternoon flight to Varanasi, known to the Hindu faithful as the city
of light, one of the oldest living cities in the world.
Day 07 : Varanasi
Drive to the ruins of the city of Sarnath, the great centre of Bhudist
pilgrimage where Budha gave his first sermon.
Day 08 : Varanasi to Khatmandu
We
rise early to enjoy a fascinitating boat ride on the river Ganges. At this
hour the Ghats are the host to the activities of the faithful - bathers descending
into the holy river, Brahmin priests offering Puja and devotees practising
meditation and yoga. In the afternoon we fly to Khatmandu.
Day 09 : Khatmandu to Chitwan
Fly to Bharatpur and drive to the Gaida Lodge in the Royal chitwan Park.
Famed for its rhino, the park offers an opportunity to see a wide diversity
of wild life including the Sambar deer, langur and rhesus monkeys, leopards,
wild dogs, hyenas and cocodiles.
Day 10 : Chitwan
The day is spent in the park with morning and evening game viewing. With
luck we may catch a glimpse of the Bengal Tiger.
Day 11 : Chitwan to Pokhra
Drive from Chitwan into the himalayan foothills to the stunning lakeside
city of Pokhara. En route there is a picnic lunch with the opportunity, for
the adventurous, to go white water rafting. Pokhra enjoys a spectacular backdrop
with some of the worlds highest peaks reflected in the clear waters of the
Lake.
Day 12 : Pokhra to Khatmandu
After further sightseeing in this sleepy and picturesque town we return
to Khatmandu by air.
Day 13 : Khatmandu
We spend the morning visiting the medieval heart of Khatmandu, the Durbar
square, where scores of templesand shrines are clutered in the vicinity of
the old Royal palace. Thronged with traders and porters, monks and townsfolk,
the square evokes all the ethnic and cultural diversity of Nepal
Day 14 : Kathmandu to Delhi
We transfer to the airport for your flight to Delhi
